Heart

We were given:
Two hands to hold

Two legs to walk

two eyes to see

two ears to listen...
But why only one Heart?
Because the other is given to someone else for us to find....

A day with Amber Chia

On 19th September 2009, early in the morning I woke up at 7.00am. Prepare to go to Amber Chia's first modelling workshop. I'm really excited.

The ticket..

After eating breakfast with Kelsey at Wangsa Maju, I go to Sg.Wang and arrived at 9a.m++ all shops haven't open yet so it is quite scary on the 6th floor, dark and quiet. But I manage to saw some girls at the 'Team Hair Studio' front desk for registration. There are many beautiful ladies there, that are tall too, so I did not feel lonely at all, in fact I'm not the tallest there either..hehe ; )

After registration, I got Amber chia's book in madarin version with signature on it. Then waiting for the time to go in.

Before we the workshop start , Amber already arrived early, and I saw her walking into the hair studio, very beautiful as usual, and she politely smile and wave to some girls who wave at her. She is really a friendly person.

When the workshop starts, I manage to say "Hie Amber!" to her before the workshop and she politely smile and greet me too.. ; )

The Workshop starts!

First, she told us about her experiences, what we should have. We must have confidence and must believe that we are all beautiful in different ways, different people would look at beauty differently. and ofcourse we must have a good and healthy lifestyle to make us beautiful, such as excercise, eat less carbs, less sugar, less salt, sit properly, stand up straight, always take care of your skin..There is no ugly woman in this world ,except LAZY woman.

After that, Amber ask everyone of us to stand in front to introduce ourselves in front of the cameraman & all students. I am quite nervous and just go in front and say " Hello everyone, My name is Vinci and I'm 22 years old..I'm from KL. Thank you!" and I think I done not so good that time, but I tried my best, I think I can do it better if given second chance. ; )

Later, we continue the workshop,Amber tell us what a model should have, tips to auditions and interviews, how to improve ourselves in our skills (makeup, social skills, modelling skills)

She is really a great teacher!

A group photo.. I'm sure you can find me if you know me..; )

Next, we have a make up demo from Snips.

Learn some basic make up from them, and it is good, I will certainly try it..Thanks to the makeup artist..

After an hour lunch break, We have a catwalk class..( I really love this part!)

Amber teached us how to walk basic catwalk, stand straight, walk ,pose ,pose, turn, walk, turn , pose..; )
It is not very easy, we need to have the power, the right facial expression, straight back, confidence and walk with the music beat to have a good catwalk. Unlucky me, the first time I walk, my shoe drop out and I stop half way to a side. a bit embaressed but luckily a sweet lady, Grace willing to lend me her shoes to me, although it is a bit tight but it fits me and I am able to try the catwalk again with 4 other ladies which does not have experience like me.. and Luckily, I manage to pass the catwalk test after my second attempt and Amber praise me that I have the expression that a model should have, and it is quite amazing for a first timer to make the expression that is difficult to express. ( Cool look, without smile but smile with your eyes)

Yay!! ; ) I'm so happy and really thanks to Grace for lending me her shoe, if not I won't be able to continue to the catwalk without it.

Next, The Posing class. Amber teach us how to pose in front of the camera, Sexy, Cool, Cheerful and Elegant pose. I love this part too..

Sexy pose by Amber..some ladies being picked and have to pose a sexy pose too, it is fun!

A Cool pose..
In the end, eveyone have to pose and being checked by Amber, It is very fun but for me the most difficult pose is sexy pose because i'm not sexy. hehe ; )

Later , We have a hair demo from Team Hair studio. How to do a simple hair style but elegant and easy to do.

we need just 3 steps, that is " twist, push, and clip!" from the Team Hair Studio director, he is very funny..

After that, there is a certificate ceramony, where Amber Chia give out certificates and goodie bags to all people who attend this workshop. And I can shake hand with her and I don't know why I'm so lucky to win the big prize of the day lucky draw and I get Celebrity Fitness 1 month membership + 2 personal training session worth RM 900++ . I'm very happy! I'm so lucky ; )
Later the best part was, everyone will have a photoshoot session,so we went out to the studio for makeup and hairdo and then I have a photoshoot with a professional photographer. That time I was trembling like mad, not because i'm nervous but because of the place is too COLD! I cannot control my face at all, so when I'm doing the photoshoot my lips trembled so much , and it is really funny, Amber and Me have a photoshoot together on the last frame, It was the best part and the best memory I had for the day, she is so nice , she help us a lot in the photoshoot.
And It is the End of the workshop, It ends on approximately 8.45p.m , I was so so so tiring with my foot aching like hell because of the heels, Being a model is not easy, I guess Amber is more tired but she never complains , she is truly a professional model.
Then I went to have my late dinner with Grace at Tempayakki restaurant, Suprisingly, she is told me that she know me but I never met her before, and she is actually my class rep's girlfriend. We chat and eat happily like we know each other for long long time, and she give me a ride ack to wangsa maju lrt station. She is really a nice girl, a pretty and tall girls. Really happy to know her..; )

When I'm back home, I take photo of mine before I go to bath and watch TV.

Beautiful? ; ) my curly hair..

My goodie bags and lucky draw prizes..

As a conclusion, I really learn a lot in this workshop, I gain a lot of confidence too. I will definitely try my best to become more beautiful and confidence in the future and hope I have a chance to fulfil my dreams too..
Thank you so much to Paul, Amber Chia, and all the sponsors for giving me a chance to learn. Thank you! ; )

Baba Nyonya

There is something I want to share about Baba Nyonya .

Baba Byonya (Peranakan, the term used popularly for descendants of early Chinese immigrants to the Nusantara region, including both the British Straits Settlements of Singapore, Malacca and Penang, and the Dutch controlled island of Java among other areas, who have partially adopted Malay customs in an effort to be assimilated into the local communities.

The word of Peranakan, is also used commonly to describe Indonesia Chinese. In both BM & Bahasa Indonesia, Peranakan” means descendant.

Baba refer to the male descendants and Nyonya the female. Most Peranakanare of Hokkein ancestry, although a fair denomination of them are of the Teocheww or Cantonese descent. The language of the Peranakan, Baba Malay (Bahasa Melayu Baba), is a dialect of the Malay Language which contains many Hokkein works.

The Nyonya Baba were partially assimilated into the Malay culture, especially in food, dress and language used, while retaining some of the Chinese traditions and culture, like religion, name, folk medicine and festival celebrations, thereby creating a new kind of mixed culture of their country of origin with local, among those, like “Nyonya cuisine “ has developed the spices of Malay cuisine, examples are curry recipe cooking, Inchi Kabin, Chicken Kapitan, fried or cry chicken & sea foods, with local spicy & spicery. Wearring the Baju Kebaya. Most of the Peranakan are not Muslim, but have retained the ancestral worship tradition of the Chinese, especially of their wedding ceremony is largely based upon the Chinese tradition.

Some of the beautiful, art work in a Baba Nyonya House

The altar..

' Kam Cheng'- means love in hokkien, used when a Baba & Nyonya's Wedding.
it's use to put red and white glutinous rice balls (tang yuan).red symbolises joy, and white symbolises purity. It is believed that after husband and wife eats the tang yuan from the kamcheng, they will never part...

The Peranakan Museum in Penang.

The peranakan culture is very unique and beautiful to me, as I'm also a "Nyonya" but the modern one..hehe; ) My late grandmother is a Nyonya from Melaka, and she cooks Nyonya food very well, It's too bad that I did not learn how to cook her style since she passed away when I was 10, But luckily I know how to cook her " Chap Choi" . I learn it from my mom who learns from her. Usually, all Nyonya is a good cook, but in my family, my sis, Kelsey (the other Nyonya in my family ; ) ) is the best cook. She knows how to cook the "Babi PongTeh" and more.. aihh! too bad I don't like to eat pork, haha! but I will learn to cook " Chicken Pong Teh" then..

Recently the drama "Little Nyonya" is aired in the whole Asia to promote the Peranakan culture starred by Jeanette Aw(Ou Xuan), Dai Yang Tian, Qi Yu Wu and more.. I really like that drama because it teached my a lot of peranakan culture and of course because Dai Yang Tian is so handsome in the drama. ; )

I'm proud to be a "Nyonya"! and I will always...

Do I look like her in the photo?

BUT..where is my baju kebaya, my Kam Cheng and My Dai Yang...no! My Ji Hoon..haha!

A busy day..

Today morning, I woke up at 8 a.m. and get ready. Then Kelsey and I send my mom and my younger sis, Nee Nee to go Puduraya Bus Station because they are going to Ipoh for holiday at my grandparents house.

Later, We come back to Melawati to eat our breakfast with Voon Foo at ' Siong Kee'. I ate Chicken Rice with Ice Tea! My favourite dish and drink at the restaurant. hehe ; )
At first we want to go to the post office to settle our graduation bill but unfortunately it is close today.

After that, Kelsey and I went to KLCC to meet Ching Er while Kelsey went to work at ISETAN as a packer today because of Mega Sales at the Children Department. Ching Er and I then went to Sg. Wang to shop.
At Sg. Wang, I bought a pair of Vincci Shoe with a bargain, only RM 34.50. Yeah! at last I can buy a shoe that are suitable for me ; ) (due to my enormous foot size of 9 ) hahaha!

Coincidently when we are finding a restaurant for my starving sister, Ching Er to eat her bread, I bump into a guy and the guy step on my foot, luckily it is not painful but what so COINCIDENCE is the guy is my secondary schoolmate, Tommy. He is there with his sweet looking girlfriend. ; ) Happy to see him and his gf together.

After we found a right place for my starving sister to eat, she eat happily ; )
Look at her pity face..

And I just sit there looking at her eating and take photo. Hehe..

After eating I went to redeem my ' Amber Chia's' workshop ticket. Can't wait for that day.

At 3p.m, we went to KLCC to shop again, Ching Er bought a PINK Hush Puppies T-shirt for her BF. And we went to ISETAN, Children Department to visit my Sis, Kelsey working at a cashier as a packer. She is the prettiest 'Packer' in ISETAN for the day. hahaha!!
We go to eat Mc Donald for her lunch break. Ah!! I haven't eat my favourite ' Fillet O Fish'.
Then we go back home, leaving Kelsey at KLCC to continue her work till 10 p.m ( So Kelian!)
At night, my father, Ching Er and I go to Sri Rampai, 'Nyonya Rasa Penang' to eat dinner. But I didn't find any ' NYONYA' food in the menu. Anyway the food is good, So it doesn't matter..
This is our food ordered today :-

Nice drinks, sourplum ice.

Tomyam seafood, very nice!

Pineapple Fried Rice....
Fruit Rojak...

Special Fried Rice..

The end.. This is the longest blog post I ever write, I think.. hehe ; )

Kelsey had come back home safely with her foot aching and she wants me to Massage her leg. So good night! ; )
